Q&A

Peak Support Q&A: Nikole Freeman

If you enjoy listening to Michael Jackson, Kid Cudi, Childish Gambino, and Whitney Houston, then you already have something in common with our Client Services Manager, Nikole. She’s not really a big fan of coffee, so her breakfast beverage of choice is either water or Dr. Pepper. When Nikole’s not busy taking care of our clients, you can find her reading a good book, hiking, or traveling. She is a self-confessed tomboy and nerd when she was a kid and watched a lot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. If there’s something that Nikole likes to collect, it’s character drinking mugs. An interesting fact about her some people might not know about is that she actually moved more than 40 times and attended 11 different schools before she was even 18. What’s Nikole’s proudest achievement? Raising two kind and empathetic kids. Read on to learn more about Nikole.

What is the most thoughtful Valentine’s Day gift you’ve ever received?

A custom-made Legend of Zelda music box from my husband. I love music boxes and we originally met because of our shared interest in Zelda.

Who do you think is the most underrated music artist?

Kid Cudi. He is an amazing singer, but also an advocate for mental health.

What fun activities do you usually do on Sundays?

My family and I go on walking trails, swim, or play Mario Party.

Which color represents your personality?

Pink. It can be soothing and quiet, or loud and bubbly.

What is your love language?

Acts of service. It matters more to show someone you care and support them than to tell them. However, I believe all people need a combination of all five love languages to varying degrees to have a healthy relationship.

When was the last time you felt nervous?

Last year when getting my passport to go to Manila! I had only a few weeks to get the passport to go to the leadership summit. I had to drive five hours one way, just two weeks before the trip and hope they approved me.

If Jurassic Park were real, would you go there?

No. I like looking at dangerous things through a screen, not being close to them.

Have you ever gone freediving?

No, I am afraid of open water. I only swim in pools that I can see the bottom. I will walk along a beach, but don’t like swimming in the ocean.

What’s the greatest challenge you’ve ever faced?

Deciding to pursue a career outside of my college studies. I spent four years knowing I would be a Physical Therapist. Changing direction was incredibly challenging.

What promise have you made to yourself that you’ve kept?

I promised myself that I would always choose kindness, no matter the circumstance or how others treat me.

Do you still remember the dress you wore to prom?

Yes! It was a tangerine-orange floor length halter top dress.

What’s something that you wish you did less of?

Stay up late at night! I find it hard to wind down, but end up with only 4-6 hours of sleep a night.

What is your favorite dessert?

Lemon mascarpone torte cake.

If you had a horse, what would you name it?

I had a pale white horse named Lightning.

What’s the bravest thing you’ve ever done?

Move to Austin with no job and no plans. I am always a meticulous planner, so this was out of the ordinary for me. I knew I wanted to live there and decided I would just go for it.
