Peak Support Q&A: Jose Arenas
Jose is one of our Director of Operations. He joined the company over a year ago when a recruiter told him about a job opportunity at Peak Support. Jose loves the outdoors and the beach, and he one day hopes to visit the scenic island of Bora Bora. Drake, Bad Bunny, and the Lebrón Brothers are just some of the musicians he’s fond of listening to. When asked what his favorite local eatery is, Jose says that Takumi Sushi Hibachi & Lounge is where he goes to if he wants to eat delicious grilled Salmon or filet mignon. The type of cuisines he just can’t tolerate though are raw foods. Jose is great at managing the household budget. He creates a plan, prioritizes his expenses, and has everything on autopay – so he doesn’t have to worry about missing any payments. Learn more about Jose by reading our latest Q&A blog.
What’s something that you’d willingly do for others for free?
Be their mentor. I’ve always enjoyed teaching others and helping them become future leaders. I personally think knowledge is very powerful and spreading knowledge and learning from others fulfills me.
When was the last time you had a really bad haircut?
The last time I feel that I had a bad haircut was during start of the Pandemic. I didn’t have a way to get a haircut with my preferred barber for almost three months, so I decided to get a haircut with someone around my area and it was the worst decision ever. Hehehe!
On average, how many vacations do you take in a year?
I usually try to take about two per year. One of them to go back to my native country of Colombia and visit my family. The second vacation is usually to enjoy some time-off at the beach or at a resort, and take my mind off my professional life.
Did you ever sneak out of the house when you were younger?
I never had the need to sneak out. However, I had a curfew to be home by 10 PM. Then one day I got home later than that and my mother decided to leave me outside for a few hours as a punishment for not paying attention. That was the last time I got home after 10 PM.
Which one of your personality traits do you think people like the most?
It would have to be my agreeableness. I am a very sociable person who usually has a good relationship with everyone and likes working with others. Personally, I believe I am very approachable and always willing to help and go above and beyond for others.
If you could talk to your future self, what would you tell him?
“Jose, it has been a lovely journey with a lot of ups and downs, but great to see how you learned from each experience and you are now a reflection of who you wanted to be.”
You’re only allowed to have five apps on your phone, which ones would you choose?
- YouTube Music
- Messaging
- Browser
- Calling App
Where do you want to build your retirement home?
I would love to build my retirement home in a place where I am able to enjoy hot weather all year around such as South US or somewhere in the Caribbean.
How quickly do you warm up to strangers?
I would say quickly. I am very approachable and like to socialize with others.
Whose happiness means the most to you?
My children’s. I am a father of three and their happiness is my happiness.
Would you much rather cook for someone or have somebody cook for you?
I like people cooking for me. However, I do love to cook, but most of the time I just don’t have the time to do it.
What thoughts keep you up at night?
Usually what keeps me up at night is just overthinking about work and always trying to plan. I am a very process-oriented professional and like to dedicate some time to brainstorm what would be the best approach or process to execute.
How do you manage to stay productive at work?
I like to be engaged with every single aspect of the organization. That goes from recruitment, training, QA, and operations. For me to manage my productivity, I try to set specific times for meetings and try to set some admin time, but it doesn’t always work. Also, I like to set specific targets from actions to deadlines to ensure I don’t only plan, but that my plans are executed and end results are inspected.
