Peak Support Q&A: Abigael Flores

Abi started her career with Peak Support in 2018. She is currently one of our Service Delivery Managers. Most people perceive her to be strong and brave, but the truth is she’s actually a shy person and a crybaby. Abi is loyal, self-reliant, authentic, assertive, and positive. She loves Sundays because it’s family day and that’s also when she’s free from work and of any household chore. Nothing excites Abi more than action packed films such as John Wick, Iron Man, and Fast & Furious. When it comes to music, she enjoys listening to chart-topping hits from Coldplay and Oasis. Abi is the queen in her family, and her husband and son just love to pamper her. What’s the best Valentine’s Day gift she’s ever received? How did you celebrate Valentine’s Day this year?

I normally don’t make big plans for Valentine’s Day because it’s one of the busiest times of year for the account I am supporting and my husband is usually out at sea. This year was different since my spouse came home. We traveled to Manila to get something for the business, and we wore matching t-shirts to keep in the Valentine’s Day spirit.

Are you the type of person who often says I love you to your loved ones?

Yes. My son and I exchange I love yous even on random occasions. I also always tell my husband that I love him especially when I’m mad at him, as a reminder to myself that I love him and that that is more important than the things that upset me (lol). When I say “I love you” to someone, I really mean it.

I would much rather sleep than _____.

Hang out.

What do most people compliment you for?

I think most people compliment me for being quick-witted. I believe I am a great problem solver and I can always come up with what to do quickly.

Can you name one high school science project that you remember doing?

Dissecting a frog and labeling its muscles on an illustration board. I think it was during my sophomore year for my biology class.

How hard is it for you to admit when you’ve been wrong?

I was headstrong and used to think I was always right, and when I knew I was right, I would often prove it. But when I joined Peak Support, I learned that I am not the sharpest tool in the shed and I learned how to value other people’s opinions. It’s now easy for me to accept when I am wrong and I am also more open to other people’s ideas and perspective.

What’s the one thing you just can’t stand?

Lying. I do not respect people who lie, because I think they are weak. Weak people lie because the truth is too difficult for them to bear: the truth about oneself, the world, or one’s role in it. People also lie because they’re afraid of the consequences of their actions.

Are you a slow or fast walker?

I am a slow walker. I have started to gain weight and don’t give myself enough time to exercise, that’s why I feel tired easily and walk slowly. I plan to change that by exercising more and staying fit and healthy.

What do you wish you did less of?

I wish I cared less about people who don’t deserve it. I believe that there is good in everyone, it’s just that there people who don’t appreciate what you do for them. Worse, they will even make me out to be the villain even when all I tried to do was help.

A major calamity is coming, what 5 things will you stock up on before it happens?

1. Soap
2. Canned goods
3. Coffee
4. Drinking water
5. Rice

Is there a job that you think you’d be bad at?

I think I will be bad at farming. I over care and I haven’t managed to keep a plant alive. My family has a green thumb, just not me though.

If you could, would you adopt a baby giraffe?

Yes. Because why not? LOL! I have been fascinated by giraffes ever since I was a kid, and it would be fun to have a giraffe roaming around our backyard and just watch it when I feel overwhelmed.

What’s scares you more: spiders or cockroaches?

Neither. But if I have to choose one, I’d say spiders. I don’t know which spiders are dangerous or what species would harm me if it bit me.

Who was the last person who tickled you?

I’m not very ticklish, but the last time I felt a tickling sensation was when my son randomly tried a scalp massager on me while we were at the mall a few years ago.

What’s the most challenging part about being an adult?

The most challenging part of being an adult is having to make difficult decisions. When we decide, we must not only think about ourselves, but also consider the people around us – our family and everyone that will be involved or impacted by our decisions.
